When a small town is bullied and tormented by a group of gangsters, you get seven charismatic gun slingers to deal out their own brand of Justice. Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt are among the cinematic tough guys that go after the bad guys. The teaser trailer to The Magnificent Seven gives us a glimpse of the moonshine drinking, gun slinging action coming our way. Antoine Fuqua, who reteams with Denzel and Ethan Hawke, stretches his directorial muscles by helming this remake of a the popular western. The original Magnificent Seven from 1960 stared heavyweights Steve McQueen, Yul Brynner, and Charles Bronson. That film is known for being a remake to the 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai, which was directed by the legendary Akiri Kurosawa.
This new incarnation of seven warriors gives us more of a diverse cast. In addition to Denzel Washington, we have Martin Sensmeir, Manuel Garcia Rulfo, and Korean star Lee Byung-Hun. Vincent D’Onofrio also stars as one of the seven. Magnificent Seven looks like a really fun film. Just seeing the charisma and starpower of Chris Pratt and Denzel Washington combined in one movie is worth the price of admission. The Magnificent Seven is expected to be released this year in September.
