The much anticipated Justice League trailer dropped this Saturday and…meh. Don’t get me wrong, it’s exciting to see all of these characters onscreen for the first time. The Justice League first appeared in issue 28 of a comic book called The Brave and the Bold published in March of 1960 and have become the most popular superhero group in comics.
After a bumby ride with Batman v Superman, Warner Bros. Is looking to steer their cinematic universe in the right direction. The Justice League trailer shows us the team in action through a series of quick cut action sequences. The directing, the set peices, the characters, everything looks awesome. Wonder Woman and Aquaman particularly come off very well and the witty banter between the characters is also a nice touch. As a showcase for introducing us to the heroes in the Justice League, it’s a spectacular display of images, but as a movie trailer, it’s good but not great.
In the past few years we’ve seen a slew of comic book characters brought to life but at this point, I think the novelty of seeing our favorite heroes onscreen is starting to wear off and at the end of the day, we just want to see a great film, superhero or not. We want to see a great trailer, not just a relentless barrage of action scenes. However, the trailer is good enough to generate excitement for the film, and make no mistake, I will be one of the first ones in line come November 17.
